Seventeen Attend BW Summer String Camp
June 18-23, 2006, seventeen students from Prospect, Langston, and Oberlin HS Orchestras attended the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music 2006 String Camp. Nine Langston Middle School Orchestra students attended last Summer. The camp size increased to 250 campers, assigned to one of the five Orchestras. Students report to the BW campus Sunday afternoon. Music activities include: Orchestra rehearsals, ensembles, sectionals, supervised practice, recitals,and concerts. Recreational activities include: swimming, games, movies, a dance with a DJ, arts and crafts, Swings 'n' Things, and a Talent Show. The cost of the camp was $425 per student. This included: room, board, and all camp activities. Fourteen of the seventeen students receive full scholarships to attend this summer. Money received from the sale of School Concerts DVD's supplied one Summer String Camp Scholarship. Ms. Thomas attended the camp as a Guest Conductor for Sixth Grade Orchestra.
